WE SUPPORT THESE LIFE-CHANGING PROJECTS
Support a child to recover
Every night in Australia 46,000 children can’t sleep in their own beds because they are at risk of being abused or neglected.
In one-on-one therapeutic counselling, children are supported to understand the abuse was not their fault and they are worthy of love. Holding children in strong relationships, they come to trust their connection with caring people as a source of nurturing and comfort, not hurt and betrayal.
The Australian Childhood Foundation is a leading organisation, supporting children to recover from the trauma of abuse, neglect and family violence. The Foundation provides specialist support to help children heal and feel safe, while educating and empowering communities to safeguard children from abuse.
Stop child marriage
In some areas of Bangladesh, up to 62% of girls are married before turning 18. These girls are not only denied their childhood, they can suffer from developmental issues due to early pregnancy. They’re vulnerable to STD’s including HIV, increased risk of domestic violence and have limited opportunities for education and employment.
We know women are the key to creating change for girls within their communities. Empowered women can achieve extraordinary impact, catalysing new and brighter futures for girls and their families.
The Hunger Project trains women to unleash their leadership and capacity to take action in their homes, villages and communities, to stop child marriage, violence against women and girls, discrimination against girl children – and shift hearts and minds on the importance of gender equality.
Dignity during disaster
When crisis occurs, people’s lives change in an instant.
Death, injury, displacement, and the destruction left behind impacts entire communities. Women and girls are affected differently by
disasters. Disasters often kill more women than men and hit women’s livelihoods hardest.
The needs of women and girls are often overlooked and ignored in the immediate response to conflict and disaster. Simple items such as sanitary napkins, a clean pair of underwear and soap can help restore dignity for women and girls following disaster and conflict.
